I set off from George Fisher just after 8am in the morning on Thursday 8th October in cool, still conditions with some cloud touching the high tops.
I enjoyed a run out by myself over Catbells and Robinson, meeting few people. Cloud had lifted by the top of Robinson and the sun came out. I suddenly felt a bit overdressed and like I might get sunburnt!
Having ambled up High Stile and found a nice descent to the tarn, I picked my way down into Buttermere and met up with my friend Hazel Davies on the bridge.
A long climb up Whiteless was the last big effort of the day. The remainder of the run out and back to Hobcarton and Grisedale Pike, then Eel Crag, Sail, Causey, Rowling End and Barrow all went in very quickly despite worsening weather on the tops (suddenly glad I wasn’t wearing shorts and no risk of sunburn!).
An easy trot back to George Fisher chatting with Hazel rounded up a lovely day.
