This morning I received an email from Trudy that made my day. Although I’ve had a very patchy first V60 year injury wise and I’m only a second claimer for Keswick based 300 miles away (at the moment) it’s an honour that the committee have given me a ticket to run the Virgin London Marathon in 2020.
I returned to running after a 32 year break five years ago … reigniting the feelings of sheer wtf that accompany us as XC runners with St Albans Striders.
Early on I was talked into running a Marathon by fund raising friends at Combat Stress … it wasn’t pretty but it made me realise not to assume anything.
Two years ago I decided to second claim for Keswick AC. I’d dabbled with Fell Running in my late teens and early 20s and thought I’d see if the fun was still there. It is .. though it’s a work in progress! Thanks particularly to Lesley Malarkey, Sam Stead and Phil Winskill for making me feel welcome.
I really enjoy being a member of the Keswick AC community and it’s great being part of such an inspirational club. Whilst for me 2019 has not been the best of running years, it’s been a spectacular year overall!
I feel so privileged to be selected … it will be my 6th Marathon and whilst it would be nice to think I can achieve a PB … finishing in less than 4:15 (my current PB) will be a challenge … at least I’ve got 17 weeks to get myself sorted!
Next serious training run North Lakes Half!
And thank you ?
