Keswick AC performed well in the of the British Fell running relays hosted by Ambleside AC in Grasmere on Saturday. With 250 teams taking place, to have finished so high was a considerable achievement.
The women’s teams took the silver medal in both categories. The senior team finished in 4 hours, 47 minutes and 34 seconds and the team members were: Jenn Mattinson, Zoe Webber, Kate Marriott, Cat Evans, Jo Gillyon and Hannah Horsburgh.
The over 40s team finished in 5:20:48 and was run by Trudy Beetham, Sam Ayers, Kate Apps, Helen Winskill, Lyn Thompson and Julie Carter.
The other team sent out by Keswick AC was the mixed team which finished third and secured the bronze medal in a combined time of 4:56:48. Its team members were: Vic Haworth, Tobias Barthelmes, Simon Netherway, Niamh Hunter, Rachel Findlay-Robinson and Harry Greenbank.
The men’s team finished tenth overall, with a combined time of 4:03:44. The team members were: Chris Arthur (who finished first in leg one), Carl Bell, Mark Lamb, Dan Haworth, Steve Hebblethwaite and Jacob Adkin.
The men’s over 40s also finished tenth in their category, with an overall time of 4:40:42. The team consisted of: Dave Prosser, Jim Haworth, Craig Smith, Steve Angus, Dave Birch and Chris Brewer.
Rachel Mellor (Keswick AC) along with Hazel Davies took part in the Abingdon marathon at the weekend. Rachel set a personal best of 3.16.27 and Hazel clocked 3.17.34.
