KAC Juniors

Keswick AC Juniors

Keswick AC Juniors train every Wednesday during term time from 5.15 – 6.15pm, and accept athletes from school years 3 to 11. All standards are welcome, and sessions cater for all abilities. We also organise a number of junior races across the year, alongside a Junior Club Championship series for junior members (see details below).

Full information on training and events can be found on our ‘KAC Juniors’ Facebook page here (please ensure you answer the questions fully when requesting to join the group).

The section is run by Junior Coordinators Emily Christmas (EA Coaching Assistant/Level 1) and John Battrick (EA Event Group Endurance/Level 3), with support from a number of qualified coaches and parent helpers.

Training sessions are free, however prior to attendance you will need to have completed an Athlete Details Form to ensure we have all the necessary medical information and emergency contact details. Following one free ‘try out’ session, you will also need to become a member of Keswick AC here.

Training sessions allow junior members to learn about training and racing on the fells, road and country, balancing the opportunity to get out and about in the local terrain with the fun, games and acquisition of fundamental skills which are so important at this stage of development.

With any queries, please contact John Battrick on johnbattrick@hotmail.com or via the ‘KAC Juniors’ Facebook page.

2025 Junior Championships

For 2025 we have chosen 6 races over the course of the year to make up our Junior Club Championships, which are inclusive of age groups U9 (minimum age 6) up to U17 (please note age group is calculated based on age on 31st December of the current year. If, for example, a 14 year-old whose birthday is in August entered a race which took place in April, they would fall into the U17 category given that on 31st December they would no longer be U15). Runners are required to take part in a minimum of 4 races to count, and are allocated points based on position in their age group – 12 points for being first Keswick AC runner in their age group, 10 points for second, 9 for third, 8 for fourth and so on. If more than 4 races are completed, the best 4 results will be used.
