Wednesday 1^st May saw the second of the Whinlatter Lord and Lady of the Forest series taking place. The weather was great and the turnout was brilliant for what is a popular race for regular fell runners and newcomers to the sport of off-road running. Junior races went first, with junior runners from several local clubs competing through the trees and trails of the forest.  The senior race was won by local lad Ricky Lightfoot with Keswick AC’s John Battrick having a superb race to come a close second. Third was Nathan Lawson. In the ladies race young Eve Pannone was victorious with Sophie Noon in second.

Prizes for the series and the overall winners for the Lord and Lady of the Forest went to Rhys Findlay Robinson and Eve Pannone, who achieved the highest positions over both Grisedale Grind and Lords Seat races. There were plenty of veteran and junior category prizes up for grabs too.  A special thanks to race sponsors Pete Bland Sports and to Siskins Cafe at Whinlatter for use of their premises for registration and prize giving, and for the coffee and cake afterwards.  Without the hospitality of Siskins the event would not be the same. Thanks to all the Keswick AC volunteers on the night and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.  

Both events are organised by Keswick AC and are run to raise money for a nominated charity.  This year, £1300 was raised for Great North Air Ambulance through race entries and donations, including a £100 donation from Forestry England.
