8 intrepid Keswick AC members took on the heat of the capital in the London Marathon. High temperatures led to the organisers warning competitors to revise their target times, with the priority being on safety. Despite this, Tim Campion-Smith flew round the course in 2:40:11, coming 150th overall. Emily Christmas and Diane Shaw to-ed and fro-ed throughout the race, eventually finishing just two minutes apart in 4:37:38 and 4:35:43 respectively. Further up the field, Rachel Mellor is raising money for Alzheimer’s Research and the Nepal Arughat Support fund, and finished in 3:26:43. Dave Kearns achieved a phenomenal personal best by knocking 1 hour 20minutes off his previous marathon time to finish in 5:10:18. Mike Beechey finished in 4:05:58, Simon Jackson in 3:41:55 and Penny Newell in 4:01:33.
