It was great to be present at the inaugural DH Rivers Run today, hosted by the excellent DH Runners. The route followed the cycle track from Denton Holme, Carlisle, out towards Dalston, and back again. DH Runners are very closely linked with Carlisle parkrun, and it showed throughout, with a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The fantastic weather also helped, as did the intricate level of organisation. Did anyone ever attend a race where each portaloo had flowers, air fresheners, vaseline, and plasters?
The race was attended by Keswick AC’s Nathan Postill 4th in 36’28, Adam Campion 6th in 37’22, David Robinson 39th in 46’49, Nic Wiseman 47th in 48’06, James Johnstone 74th in 52’02, Kate Johnstone 79th in 52’21, Paul Coldham 154th in 1’07’12, along with a group of local runners who have been training with the New Balance Run Group.
Well done all – this is definitely one to put on the calendar for next year.
