Race
Details
A typical show race running out over fields out onto the fell with two short, sharp ascents up Stile End and Barrow, returning over the same fields. Route through the fields is flagged and mandatory. Checkpoints on the fell are 1. Stile End (NY220219) and 2. Barrow (NY227218). Note the start is in the main ring, however the finish not, being in a field over the road. A race map is attached, A5 copies sold for £1 on the day.
Competitors must be equipped with the following kit, which is mandatory under FRA requirements:
• Waterproof whole body cover (with taped seams and attached hood)
• Other body cover e.g. thermal vest
• Hat and gloves
• Compass
• Whistle
• Map of the route and surrounding area
• Emergency food
Whether the kit is carried during the race, is at the discretion of the race organiser and not the individual runner. Random kit checks may take place at the start of the race.
