Keswick Athletic Club – Update on Covid-19 Measures
The Director of Public Health in Cumbria has issued the following advice; https://www.cumbria.gov.uk/publichealth/covid19outbreakcontrol.asp
The club committee held an extraordinary meeting in December to discuss the implications for club events and training. After a thorough discussion it was unanimously agreed that there would be no resumption of club races and organised training sessions for both adults and juniors would cease with immediate effect. It was agreed that individuals from multiple households from around the area coming together to train was contrary to the advice being issued by the public health authorities.
However, the club training programmes will be available online for people to use in their own time and the virtual club championships will continue. The committee are keen to explore new and innovative ways to maintain social contact between members and would welcome any ideas.
We know how disappointing this will be for many members but the committee felt that it was important that the club played its part in helping to reduce the transmission of the virus in our local community. As restrictions are likely to change over the coming months, the committee will continue to meet on a monthly basis to review the position on training and competition and we all look forward to resuming our full range of activities when the time is right.
