Regular Training Schedule
Mondays: Winter Core Classes with Will
This Core Stability Training is run by PT Will Houghton and the cost is £3.50/session. It concentrates on developing core strength and general conditioning for running. Held in the Crosthwaite Parish Rooms (near the Co-op in Keswick), meeting at 6 for a 6.15 start, these are run in the winter only. The session lasts about 45 minutes, finishing at 7pm. Tuesdays & Thursdays: Main club-training sessions
These are the two main weekly club training sessions and cover a variety of road, off-road and hill workouts. Sessions endeavour to cater for all levels of ability. There is always a set session (see schedule below), though this may vary in severe weather, and small groups are welcome to offer a separate activity if they wish. High-vis clothing and head-torch are essential in winter. We meet at the Fitz Park pavilion at 6 for a prompt 6.15 start.

Wednesdays: Ladies Social Runs
This is an informal, mixed ability group aiming to encourage and support women’s running in a comfortable and social setting. Their activities and further information are on their Facebook page or contact firstname.lastname@example.org Meet in the stone shelter behind the cenotaph every Wednesday for a 6.30 start. The session lasts about an hour and can be on trail or road. Minimum ability we suggest you are able run 5km in about 30mins, and can run up to 10k (though we stop – a lot!!).

The sessions have been planned by Club member Dave Troman of Love To Run Coaching and work on the principle of periodisation. To understand how the training sessions in the current block fit into the greater scheme of the season, have a read of the overview and training philosophy HERE.
This month is all about getting back into structured sessions. There are a variety of sessions and options throughout the month and includes a new “club distance challenge” which we will revisit on the final Thursday of each month.

Undulating reps in Castlehead Woods
Approx. 400m reps, with some variety
Short hill reps in Crow Park
Thurs 5th Sept
Social fell run Walla Crag and Bleaberry Fell
Can add 1 minute surges
Tues 10th Sept
Uphill and short down reps
Brundholme Spur from bottom gate
4 min reps (3 min “parkrun pace” then 1 min “fast finish”)
Thurs 12th Sept
Full reps round Castlehead Woods
Tues 17th Sept
1.3k reps with up and down
Lower Latrigg “triangle” from Spooney Green Lane gate
1, 2, 3 min reps – top end speed
Thurs 19th Sept
Progressive 1k reps. Start easy, then each rep must be faster than previous.
Tues 24th Sept
3k loops round Great Wood, 4 mins recovery
Full loops reps of Cockshot Woods with half time recovery
Thurs 26th Sept
New “club distance challenge” based on 1k reps in Fitz Park
