Work will start next week to carry out essential refurbishment work on two of the “bow string” railway bridges at the Threlkeld side of the route. This maintenance work will require the closure of the path from the A66 and Whitehead coppice.

Work is also planned to start on the bridge spanning Brundholme Road, Keswick on the week commencing 15 July. This will result in a path closure between Keswick Station to the eastern side of the bridge. Access onto the route will be maintained via the Derwent Service Station (Shell Garage), Penrith Road, Keswick.

This work will ensure that the Victorian bridges remain fit for purpose as part of the multi-user trail and are preserved as part of the industrial heritage of the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway.
