Old Crown Round

27th July 2019Rachel

On the northern fells, the Old Crown Round took place on Saturday 22nd. Starting from the Old Crown pub in HesketNewmarket, this 23 mile route takes in the summits of Carrock Fell, Blencathra, Skiddaw, Knott and High Pike. With free route choice between the summits, there was plenty of potential for going walkabout in the clag! This was the first year that the race has been organized by Northern Fells running club, with previous editions being run by Wandering Aengus treks. 42 runners started the race, with Kim Collinson of Borrowdale and Jess Richardson of Lonsdale taking the men’s and women’s honours respectively. Keswick AC’s sole representative, Rachel Findlay-Robinson, used the clag and her navigational skills to her advantage to come 4th lady.
