Local businessman Mike Charlton, from Lakeland Slate Company, has generously donated 8 new trophies for Keswick AC’s annual presentation awards. The new trophies coincide with 8 new awards for Under 23 and Under 18 categories in the road and the fell club series. The first to receive the 2017 awards were Nathan Postill (U23 Road Champion) and Sam Hooper (U23 Fell Champion).

The running club committee decided that the money earmarked for the new trophies will be donated to 4 Keswick AC members, Emily Christmas, David Ferrier, Jill Blaney and Dave Kearns, who are all swimming the Channel as a relay team this July to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance Services. The challenge itself is quite expensive with all members having to pay for a boat, pilot, accommodation for a week, (they have to be ready to go at any time during that week) travel and equipment for the attempt.
