Keswick AC’s Russell Maddams won the Kielder Marathon, in Northumberland, for the second year running in a time of 2 hours, 46 minutes and 24 seconds. Though he was eight seconds slower than last year’s winning effort. Maddams’s personal best at the marathon is 2:29:59 achieved at the considerably flatter and faster London course in 2005.

Other superb results from the Kielder Marathon and Half Marathon at the weekend, include Louise Brown in 4:08:21 and Ella Scott in 4:37:04.

…and also smashing it in the half marathon was Emily Christmas (1:50:43), James Christmas (1:33:22) Dave Kearns (2:02:22 PB), Marcela Jackson (2:27:58)
