The Hodgson brothers Mountain Relay takes place on the first Sunday in October in Patterdale. The race involves four legs, each with their own challenges including hard climbs and steep descents on difficult terrain. 

The Keswick AC men’s team came out in first place, the women’s team bagged third place and men’s V40 team were also third.

The men’s pairs were John Battrick and Sam Stead on leg 1, James Appleton and Dan Haworth (2), Steve Hebblethwaite and Calum Tinnion (3), with Carl Bell and Mark Lamb tackling leg 4. The combined team time was 3 hours, 30 minutes and 23 seconds; a full five minutes ahead of runners up, Ambleside AC. 

Helm Hill AC took the Women’s title, but Keswick finished a credible third. Leg one was run by Trudy Beetham and Kate Apps, Jenn Mattinson and Jo Gillyon ran leg two, Zoe Webber and Cat Evans ran next, and Kate Sijpesteijn and Hannah Horsburgh ran leg four. The combined time of the women was 4:47:34, just shy of ten minutes off Helm Hill. 

The Men’s V40 team also had a great run Peter George/ James Haworth (leg 1), Steve Angus/Dave Birch (2), Dave Prosser/ Phil Winskill (3) and Andy Slattery/Craig Smith on leg four. They finished in third place with a combined time of 4:25:35.
