In racing news, team Keswick AC have got 2018 off to a great start, with numerous great performances at recent events over the past few weeks. On Saturday a men’s team travelled across to Leeds for the Northern Cross Country Championships, and the lads finished a creditable 7th team overall against an extremely competitive field. Cat Evans and Jo Gillyon once again competed in the Dark Mountains race, an overnight marathon event which this year was held in the Trough of Bowland. They completed the short score, and were 1st females and well within the top 10 finishers overall in their category. Keswick AC’s Alistair Thomas was an impressive 2nd in Blakes Heaven Fell Race, with Niamh Hunter and Vic Haworth 3rd and 4th female respectively, alongside many other Keswick runners. On Sunday Bobby Hagan ran under the hour (59.57) in Lytham St. Annes 10 mile road race, and came home in third, a fantastic performance on what was a flat course but turned out to be a very windy day.
