Keswick AC - Juniors
Keswick AC aim to provide opportunities for young runners in the area to learn about training and racing in the grand traditions of Lakeland running. The Club is in the centre of the finest natural scenery and training country to be found anywhere. Regular training and racing events are organised all year round open to all Junior Runners in the area aged 6yrs and over.
You can download the Junior Membership Form here.
Junior training takes place on Wednesdays from 5-6pm meeting outside the cafe in Fitz Park. Sessions are based in or around Fitz Park making use of the trails on Latrigg and the railway line. Sometimes we meet near other fells to give more variety to the training and details of where we meet are posted on our junior members Facebook page. We try to keep training fun but focussed and in addition, we organise several races a year for our members where the focus is on sportsmanship and having fun. Several of our older members now represent the county but we welcome all abilities – the most important thing to us is that the children enjoy their running and want to be there!
We do ask for a 50p donation per session and that all runners join Keswick AC. This is really easy to do – just follow this link.
Reflective clothing and head torches are essential in the winter months. Please note that there will be no junior training during school holidays.

Please note that we currently have a waiting list, so please contact us to see if we can accommodate your child.
2017 Junior League
For 2017 we have chosen 7 races again over the year to form our ‘Junior League’. Runners should take part in at least 4 races and they get points for how well they do, so 12 points for being first Keswick runner in their age group by boy/girl, 10 points for second, 9 points for third, 8 points for fourth etc. Age is at 31st December 2017 for all races. If you run more than 4 races, then your best 4 results count. 5 & unders only need to complete 3 of the possible 5 they can compete in.
They are always good fun and very friendly and some of them are followed by a senior race if any parents want to show them how it’s done!
